Building a Healthy Relationship – How to Have a Richer, Fuller, More Satisfying Life Experience

 

Building a healthy relationship is such a worthy goal to have. So many people simply drift through life and the experience of their relationship suffers as a consequence.

 

 

 

They can be like two strangers living together, simply going through the motions of daily activity, without any real connection between themselves, and lacking any elements of a healthy relationship.

 

 

 

This can mean, a couple get together, and before they know it, they have children. Given the time and effort required to raise children, this is their priority.

 

 

 

Building a healthy relationship does not even come into the equation. Children grow up and leave home, and couples end up in the empty nest position where they wonder what to do with themselves, living in an unhappy marriage. There is no indication of any traits of a healthy relationship.

 

 

 

Before long grandchildren fill the gap. This is now their focus and life goes on in an accustomed manner, and any signs of a healthy relationship are non existent.

 

 

 

It is easy to identify people in this situation, especially as they get older. They are the ones you see in restaurants or cafes, sitting opposite each other with barely a word being said between them. They look lost and lonely.

These latter traits, are some of the characteristics of unhealthy relationships, that eat away at people, and can literally lead to ill health.

 

 

 

Not only that, people can just feel so awful generally, and many people get stuck in these situations as patterns are established,and they end up in an unhappy marriage.

 

 

 

It can make their experience of life very depressing. In my view life is too short to remain in such circumstances, especially when there are opportunities for building a healthy relationship.

 

 

 

They don’t know, or realize, they do have a choice. They don’t have to stay in these types of relationships. Alternatively they could see a professional to help them make the changes required to have the characteristics of a healthy relationship.

 

 

 

If a couple were to do that, it is crucial they be clear about their motivation in order for there to be any satisfactory outcome.

 

 

 

Other aspects of building a healthy relationship include acknowledging each person in the relationship is of equal status.

 

 

 

This means there is no one in charge in the relationship. It is a partnership between two equals. I realize there will be some who will disagree with this view based on beliefs you may have, according to your understanding of scripture, or whatever.

 

 

 

When I shared this view with a group of Mormons I was asked to give a talk to, I got a standing ovation in response.

 

 

 

When each person holds the same status, it follows there is no longer any room for set roles in the relationship, which is usually to the woman’s disadvantage with no signs of a healthy relationship.

 

 

 

Now the building of a healthy relationship is demonstrated by each person sharing in the domestic and parental responsibilities.

 

 

 

No longer, when men are involved in these activities, is it viewed as helping, which has an inference that it is the man helping the woman do what is viewed as her responsibility.

 

 

 

I’m sure you will agree with me, when we talk about building a healthy relationship in this way, it makes such a difference to how we all can experience life.

Living in Conyers, Septic Tank Pumping is Required

What is a Septic System? –

A septic system is a self contained wastewater processing unit.  Comprised of a septic tank, distribution box and leach field, the system takes the effluent exiting a house, processes it and provides a place for the liquids to filter back into the ground.  Septic systems are not connected to public sewer lines.

How Does a Septic System Work? –

When the effluent from your house drains out of your home, it exits through an outlet pipe.  From there the effluent enters the septic tank.  The tank may have one or two chambers.

If the tank has one chamber then the material enters the tank and over the course of several hours the solids settle to the bottom and the grease and fats accumulate on top.  The liquids remain in the middle and are eventually released through outlet pipes to go to the leach field.

The tank has a full complement of digestive bacteria that destroy harmful substances in the waste to some degree.  In a two-chamber tank, the liquids move into the second part of the tank before moving onwards.  This decreases the likelihood of solids ever exiting the tank.

In the leach field the partially processed liquids continue to neutralize.  Once they exit the pipes they begin to sink through the earth which filters and cleans the liquids until they are safe to enter the water table.

Why do we Have to Pump it Out? –

Every few years the level of solids at the bottom of the tank, called sludge, gets too high and begins to interfere with the treatment process.  If there isn’t enough room for the liquids to sit in the tank for 24-30 hours, at least, then they don’t get sufficiently neutralized by the bacteria in the tank.

Additionally, if the sludge is left in the tank too long it begins to solidify into a mass that requires a lot of effort to remove.  The scum layer can build to a point where it enters the baffles and clogs them.  A tank in this condition is likely to back up and flood the home.

How Often do we Pump out the Tank? –

Most homeowners follow a two year cycle on pumping.  The size of the tank, the number of people in the home and the amount of waste delivered to the system are also determining factors.

If you are uncertain when your tank was last pumped out, it is well worth having a septic service inspect your tank and let you know if it is time to have the work done.  After the initial pumping you can arrange a schedule that is appropriate to your situation.

Living Well With Type 2 Diabetes

Type 2 diabetes was once called adult onset diabetes. However, it can strike anyone, and recently there has been a substantial increase of children diagnosed with the condition. Type 1 diabetes, which usually begins during childhood, normally requires insulin treatment, but Type 2 seldom does. Type 2 can usually be controlled with proper eating and activity, although sometimes oral medications are also needed.

At present, diabetes can only be managed, not cured. It occurs when the body either fails to secrete insulin or when it cannot manage the insulin produced. Insulin eliminates glucose from the blood and stores it in special cells, where it can be burned for energy. If it is allowed to build up in the blood, the liver and kidneys can be damaged. A feeling of being tired all the time can also be present, since the body cannot burn sugar for energy.

Diabetes can be a silent disease, with symptoms either not present or minor enough that many patients do not recognize them. Weight loss, excessive urination, and high levels of thirst or hunger can all be symptoms of diabetes. High blood sugar levels can also cause a blurring of vision and numbness of the toes or fingers.

Uncontrolled diabetes can result in neuropathy, particularly in the feet, as well as renal damage. It also increases the chance of osteoporosis, heart disease and stroke. Recent studies suggest it may also be a risk factor in Alzheimer’s and other forms of dementia.
