A Simple and Fast Way to Lose Weight – How to Lose 20 Pounds

Are you looking for a fast way to lose weight? Don’t you hate the uncomfortable feeling of being overweight? Tired of seeing all the skinny people enjoying walking around in their silly little halter tops and bikinis with their skinny little thighs? Wouldn’t you like to feel good about yourself again and be able to join everyone else at the water parks during those hot summer months instead of making excuses why you don’t want to go? I’m simply going to go through what worked for me but remember everyone is different so you may need to change things around to fit yourself and your lifestyle and schedule. I lost an easy 20 pounds with this method about 10 years ago and the good news is it stays off as long as you continue following the plan.

What is my simple secret? I made a point to walk every day.

Now, of course, there are going to be some days you simply can’t get this done. But by having the goal of walking every day, if you do miss a day here and there you really haven’t missed too much. If you make your goal to walk every other day or every 3 days, and then you miss a day, you might end up going a week without walking. So I would suggest that you start out with the intention of walking each and every day. How far to walk is up to you. I don’t necessarily have a goal as to how far but I go for how long. I usually walk for at least half an hour per day. The distance is about a mile and a half at the pace I walk.

Even if you do nothing else but just walk every day you’ll lose weight. It may not come off as fast as you would like but as the old fable says, slow and steady wins the race. You don’t even have to change your eating habits. Of course you can, and that will speed things along, but you don’t have to.

Now, if you are in a hurry, and chances are great that you probably are, you can increase the walking time or miles per day. For example, you could set a goal to walk 3 miles per day. If you stick to that goal you will lose weight, and at 3 miles per day you can do it pretty quickly.

Adjusting your eating habits is not required but as I mentioned, it will help you to lose weight faster. Nothing drastic need be done unless you want to. Just cut back a little. The combination of your walking and cutting back your eating just a bit will work wonders. I know it sounds to simplistic to be true but it really works.

Now, if you want to speed things up even a little more, you can add strength training to your regimen. I found that if I worked out with some strength training on my Total Gym at home, it really helped take the weight off fast. The reason for that is you are building muscle, which helps to speed fat loss. So if you have access to something like that to use, try adding in some muscle building exercises to help you reach your goal faster.

That’s all there is to it, a very simple and fast way to lose weight. So if you have been wondering how to lose those extra 20 pounds (or even more), give this regimen a try. It’s simple but it works!

Building a healthy relationship is such a worthy goal to have. So many people simply drift through life and the experience of their relationship suffers as a consequence.

 

 

 

They can be like two strangers living together, simply going through the motions of daily activity, without any real connection between themselves, and lacking any elements of a healthy relationship.

 

 

 

This can mean, a couple get together, and before they know it, they have children. Given the time and effort required to raise children, this is their priority.

 

 

 

Building a healthy relationship does not even come into the equation. Children grow up and leave home, and couples end up in the empty nest position where they wonder what to do with themselves, living in an unhappy marriage. There is no indication of any traits of a healthy relationship.

 

 

 

Before long grandchildren fill the gap. This is now their focus and life goes on in an accustomed manner, and any signs of a healthy relationship are non existent.

 

 

 

It is easy to identify people in this situation, especially as they get older. They are the ones you see in restaurants or cafes, sitting opposite each other with barely a word being said between them. They look lost and lonely.

 

 

 

Whereas when people have building a healthy relationship as their goal, their experience of life is totally different. It means this is their priority, everything else fits in around them. They see each other as someone special.

 

It means couples make time for each other, they do not allow the distractions of life, such as work and having children, take precedence over this primary concern.

 

 

 

They always communicate, knowing how the other is feeling and managing their life. They have meals together, and organize having special moments, such as going to the movies or the theater, and having time away together. They have a very healthy relationship.

 

 

 

Building a healthy relationship also means each person has total respect for the other. There is no place for nastiness, aggravation or resentment in such an arrangement.

 

 

 

These latter traits, are some of the characteristics of unhealthy relationships, that eat away at people, and can literally lead to ill health.

 

 

 

Not only that, people can just feel so awful generally, and many people get stuck in these situations as patterns are established,and they end up in an unhappy marriage.

 

 

 

It can make their experience of life very depressing. In my view life is too short to remain in such circumstances, especially when there are opportunities for building a healthy relationship.

 

 

 

They don’t know, or realize, they do have a choice. They don’t have to stay in these types of relationships. Alternatively they could see a professional to help them make the changes required to have the characteristics of a healthy relationship.

 

 

 

If a couple were to do that, it is crucial they be clear about their motivation in order for there to be any satisfactory outcome.

 

 

 

Other aspects of building a healthy relationship include acknowledging each person in the relationship is of equal status.

 

 

 

This means there is no one in charge in the relationship. It is a partnership between two equals. I realize there will be some who will disagree with this view based on beliefs you may have, according to your understanding of scripture, or whatever.

 

 

 

When I shared this view with a group of Mormons I was asked to give a talk to, I got a standing ovation in response.

 

 

 

When each person holds the same status, it follows there is no longer any room for set roles in the relationship, which is usually to the woman’s disadvantage with no signs of a healthy relationship.

 

 

 

Now the building of a healthy relationship is demonstrated by each person sharing in the domestic and parental responsibilities.

 

 

 

No longer, when men are involved in these activities, is it viewed as helping, which has an inference that it is the man helping the woman do what is viewed as her responsibility.

 

 

 

I’m sure you will agree with me, when we talk about building a healthy relationship in this way, it makes such a difference to how we all can experience life.

 

 

 

This is to everyone’s advantage. It is a true win/win. This leads to us all having a more satisfying, richer and fulfilling life.

Democrats Waited to Exhale – In the End, Healthcare Reform May Die

Who knew?

The end of health insurancereform came down to one seemingly simple election that got really, really complicated. What’s more baffling is that nearly no one saw it coming.   Massachusetts Democrat Martha Coakley was considered a shoo-in to replace former Senator Ted Kennedy, who succumbed to brain cancer last fall. But up jumped a Republican rabbit and one not without past transgressions (or at least eyebrow raises from his fellow policticos who would prefer to forget the racy 80′s centerfold photo of Scott Brown, Coakley’s opponent). The Obama Administration is shell-shocked that a relative unknown with a relatively simple battle cry against the promise or perils of healthcare reforms.   Criminals often claim they were at the wrong place at the wrong time as the reason for their violations. In this neck-and-neck election, Brown himself would likely boast that he was most definitely at the right place at a pivotal time in United States history. While the healthcare plan isn’t officially dead, it’s certainly dying on the vine on Capitol Hill. Just waiting for Brown or one of his colleagues on the right side of the aisle to stand and deliver what is likely to be the longest filibuster ever captured on CSPAN.   As for Coakley, her concession speech was blunt but gracefully conciliatory. What was there to say after such a solid defeat after breathtaking appeals from Obama and staunch Democrats who were so eager to put healthcare behind them. It’s akin to hiring a very slow contractor to rip an old roof to replace it, but once he pops the top, there’s a windowless, unoccupied house that’s completely rotten and needs to be bulldozed.   “There will be plenty of Wednesday morning quarterbacking about what went right, what went wrong,  and I know everyone — including me — will be brutally honest,” uttered Coakley from behind a benign hotel ballroom podium, standing by a few questionably smug supporters. “…I will not forget the fierce determination with which we approached this.”   But sometimes, determination just isn’t enough to stem the tide of growing opposition against public policy that is inherently flawed, a point Brown made very clear after his win.   “Raising taxes, taking over our health care, and giving new rights to terrorists is the wrong agenda for our country,” said Brown. “What I’ve heard again and again on the campaign trail, is that our political leaders have grown aloof from the people, they’re impatient with dissent, and comfortable in the back room making deals. And we can do better.”   The final vote tally was 51 to 47 percent, a solid victory by any pundit’s standards. Ironically enough, the battle was fought and won in the same state where Senator Kennedy himself worked tirelessly to bring affordable health insurance plans to the masses. In the end, this election will go down as yet another shot heard round the world. No doubt about it.

End the Anxiety Today

There are thousands of people suffering from anxiety and or panic attacks on a regular basis. You should know that the anxiety you may be experiencing now, feeds off of that previous panic attack, sending your emotions into a worry and doubt mind set, promoting that apparent hopeless cycle of fear. Fear of losing control again, fear of embarrassment associated with some panic attacks. Even in some cases, the fear of death.

The mere thought or anticipation of a panic attack sends the cycle of anxiety in motion. The building blocks of a future panic attack are laid hours before you experience one. Any stress trigger can then set the full blown panic attack into motion because panic manifests itself in about 20 minute wave-like formations.

Because of this, your everyday plans are bound to change, for one reason….

You simply need to avoid that intense fear of anxiety and panic. You may choose to avoid going to certain places and meeting certain people, or situations perceived as dangerous.

Some may have to lie, so that they will not be confronted with that uncomfortable moment. You are not a bad person because of this! You are simply caught up in the irrational cycle of avoidance behavior.

Anyone understands the desire to avoid situations that make us uneasy. That cause apprehension and anxiety. That could possibly send us into an internal bundle of panic.

When you come to the realization that…. YOU ARE NOT ALONE! And that there is hope, you may then begin the process of circumventing that irrational cycle.

There is one key factor that separates those who eliminate panic attacks, and those who do not. The key ingredient is not medication, nor is it lifestyle changes. It is when the person “no longer fears” the thought of having another panic attack.

Let me be clear on that…

This may seem like a simple observation but please give it careful consideration. The thing that may have you searching for a solution to anxiety and panic attacks this very moment is the fear of having another one.

When a person experiences a panic attack, it can feel like their world is crumbling around them. No place feels safe, as the anxiety becomes like a criminal waiting around the corner. As mentioned earlier… when this happens, one begins to either avoid situations that make them anxious, or they medicate themselves to the point where they are numb to the fear.

Neither of the above is an acceptable solution.

After a person has a panic attack, the experience can be so powerful, that it leaves a strong imprint in their mind. This mental imprint generates a cycle of anxiety whereby they develop a fear of having another panic attack. People can spend a very long time caught in this repetitive cycle of anxiety.

There are medications available that mask these uneasy feelings of anxiety.

But, medication is not the only option. If you want to stop those life altering feelings of anxiety, that in many cases lead to full blown panic attacks….

You must “BREAK the CYCLE” of fear in order to return to normal everyday living.

Once this is done, you will be amazed at how much more productive life can be. How much calmer you can be when you understand the problem, and find the solution. You too, can have your old self back, and be in control.

Change is Vital to End Binge Eating Disorder

So, you are at the point where you realize that you have Binge Eating Disorder and you want to make a change in your life for the better…  But what do you do next?  If you are like how I was, a mixture of emotions used to begin to fill my head about what my new self would be like.  I was excited about getting on with my life and making Binge Eating Disorder a thing of the past.

But I was also a little nervous about letting Binge Eating Disorder go.  Why?  Not because I wanted to eat myself to death, but because I didn’t know any other way.  I had turned to food for about nine years of my life and that was all I knew.  I didn’t know how to deal with anything that was going on in my life.  I didn’t know what I would do without bingeing to make myself feel better.  What would I now do when I was happy, sad, bored, excited, or scared?  It was definitely a scary time for me to wonder what my new life would be like.

The most important thing that I did was to first transform my feelings toward change.  When most people think of change, they are scared because they are chartering along unknown territory.  They are not sure of what the future has in store for them.  They start questioning whether or not they are truly ready to take on this risk. 

I knew that I had to erase everything negative in my mind about change and focus on what good would come from it.  There were so many things that I was able to think of.  For example, I would be a healthier person.  I would feel better about myself.  I would start to like myself.  I wouldn’t feel like I was leading a double or secret life.  I would not worry about when or how I would binge next.  I would finally have a normal relationship with food.  Most importantly, I would finally be happy. 

When your negative thoughts of change start to turn into good thoughts, change doesn’t seem like such a bad thing.  It certainly doesn’t seem like something to be scared of.  I found myself starting to get excited about changing my life.  I couldn’t wait to see what was going to unravel and become my life. 

After the decision has been made to make changes in your life, next will come motivation.  Motivation is the driving force inside us all that push us to better ourselves.  Motivation is what keeps on refueling us and reminding us what it is that we truly desire.  Positive change is what produces positive motivation within each and every one of us.  When you feel inspired to change the bingeing in your life, motivation will kick it up a notch to push you in the right direction.  You will begin to do whatever it takes to achieve your desire result: no more bingeing!

Once positive changes in your life start to happen, you will want more.  You will feel motivated to keep on pushing forward, no matter how hard the obstacle may seem.  It is motivation, along with hard work and dedication that is going to create the new path for your new life of no more binge eating.
