Any changes in routine and schedule during the holidays can also contribute to regression. School holidays, the increased activity and excitement and even holiday traveling can be very disruptive to the routine of a child with Autism, causing regressive behavior. Another cause for regression can be the transition back to school after being off for a couple of weeks for holiday vacation. Or, any changes in therapy schedules during the holidays can also contribute to regression. The holidays are filled with changes and can be very overwhelming for a child with Autism, any combination of these things can lead to regressive behavior. Determining the cause of your child’s regressive behavior may necessitate a review of the time period to asses changes in diet, routine and environment.
