Benefits of a Hot Tub

There are few things more relaxing than hopping in a steaming outdoor hot tub in the middle of winter. Maybe it’s the Minnesota blood in my veins, but I love the relaxing and rejuvenating feeling of a hot tub in the cold, frigid winters. The Norwegians that came to Minnesota in the early days were staunch proponents of the health benefits of a good hot tub soak or sauna in the middle of winter. Here are some benefits of an outdoor hot tub:

Relaxation

One of the obvious benefits of a hot tub, the soothing heat of a hot tub can wash away all of the stress of the day. A hot tub soak at the end of the day can help you to relax and prepare yourself for a good night’s rest as opposed to running around all night and flopping into bed. Instead of popping a sleeping aide before you hit the hay, a hot tub soak can have the same effect but without the addictive and questionable side affects of sleeping pills.

Stress reducer

For those that suffer from extreme stress at home or at work, a hot tub can be essential in slowing down time and allowing for self reflection. Many people with anxiety and phobias have found that a hot tub soak a few times a week can greatly help reduce the feelings of overwhelming stress throughout the week.

Fun

Of course, a hot tub is a great social centerpiece to any get-together. Having friends over for food and drinks is never complete without an after-dinner soak in the hot tub to relax and digest your meal. Your friends and family will be clamoring to come over when you install a hot tub (which can be a good or a bad thing).

Romance

There is an obviously romantic aspect of a personal hot tub. If you are looking for some time away from the world with your loved one, a romantic soak in a hot tub together can really strengthen the bonds of love and bring some relaxed happiness to your relationship. Many hot tubs come equipped with various colored yellow or red or blue hid lights that can add a romantic visual effect to your night together.

The Benefits Of Detoxing For Fitness And Health

It seems to be a little disgusting when you are detoxing or cleansing. Your body shows some signs that you have built up toxins. These toxins can affect your whole body fitness and health.

There are times that you feel sluggish and feel stressful. Your body may experience continuous aching, diarrhea, constipation, and feeling of clumsiness. Rapid weight gain and the incapacity to lose the excess weight can also be signs of having toxins in the body.

Moreover, the toxins found in the body are found and stored on your fat cells. For Americans who are taking the usual American diet, a person may consume 70 trillion garbage cans for each cell. In detoxing your body and cleaning those unwanted garbage cans in your cells, you should pay attention on your elimination organs.

There are particular organs in your body that deal on cell waste management. These organs play a major role in the detoxing process for a fit and healthy body, which include the liver, lymph glands, kidneys, lungs, and colon as outlined below.

 1.         Your liver is the organ that recycles the unwanted chemicals in the body. It sorts out the toxins and places them to the organ for elimination during the process of circulation. The principal elimination organs will back up the liver on where these toxins will be stored and then eliminated.

 2.         The lymph glands also play an important role in eliminating the toxins. A network of tubing brings out the excess waste of the cells from the body and to the final eliminating organs. The appendix, thymus, tonsil, and spleens are major lymphatic glands that help the major organs of the body in cleansing and detoxing.

 3.         The kidneys help in the water management of the body. They are the ones that keep the good chemistry of the blood alkaline by eliminating the dissolved acid waste. You can help your kidney to function very well by drinking plenty of water. It is much better if you drink fresh alkaline juices and purified water. You may take ½ ounce of alkaline everyday to see positive results on your body weight.

 4.         The lungs are the organs that keep the blood air purified. They allow the oxygen to go directly to the bloodstream. It is also responsible in removing waste gases that are found in every cell of the body. Deep breathing and fresh air is very helpful in keeping the lungs healthy and free from toxins. If you are in the urban area, it is recommended that you find an oxygen rich area where you can perform deep breathing.

 5.         The colon is a solid waste management organ in your body. Medical practitioners have found many people that may have an 80-pound mucus and rubber like solid waste that are found on the walls of the colon. Detoxing and cleaning the colon can be a real tough thing to do. However, having a free waste colon can certainly provide you good benefits of having a clean and healthy body.

If you are experiencing some signs of detoxification, you may try doing a regular walking exercise. Exercise is a good key in having a fit and healthy body. Many diet doctors also suggest that you drink plenty of lemon water. This is an effective way of maintaining a very good circulation and can increase the rate of detoxification inside the body.

NutriSystem, Are they Long Term Benefits

I am sure when watching TV you have seen countless ads for Nutrisystem and think, “Wow, I would really like to try that and look like those models”.  First off, those models they ever use are people who are professionals and money is no object.  Plus, they all have personal trainers.  They are not struggling moms and everyday folk who can hardly make ends meet as it is.

Let me first tell you about Nutrisystem and how it works before I go on.  It is all about portion control and a balance of nutrition, variety, and the right combinations of food, high fiber and low glycemic index.   I can attest to the success of the program . . . as long as you never go off of it.  Surely we can all afford that?

To start they always offer free weeks but what they don’t tell you is if you want to get two weeks free, you have to sign up for two months, 1 week free per month so for 3 weeks free, their current offer, I am quite sure you are committed to signing up for 3 months.

The good thing about the program is that you do have access to customer support 24/7.  They are definitely good about communication which is very important in my opinion.  If you have questions you need the answers right away, not days later.

They have different plans to choose from which includes a silver plan, diabetic plan, vegetarian plan, and their basic plans for either men or women.  Each plan contains 3 meals and 2 snacks for each day and all food is delivered free to your door.  It kind of makes you wonder what is in these foods to preserve them for as long as it does.  Nothing needs to be refrigerated . . . at least that is how it was when I tried the plan.

Each month you get to pick your foods, 28 breakfasts, lunches, dinners and enough snacks for two per day.   There is also a store where you can purchase any of the meals separately.  Even when I stopped the plan I continued to purchase their pancake mixes and a few other items I did like and cannot find elsewhere.  Most of their foods are very good.  And the plan does work.

As with any eating plan, you need to also participate in some type of fitness plan that you will enjoy.  I currently highly recommend Curves for Women because it is a timed fun plans that is fairly easy to stick to.  But is up to you and only you know what kind of commitment you will stick to.

Nutrisystem does work if you can afford to spend 0 a month until you reach your goal.  After that it is really tough but not impossible to get on maintenance.  Good luck on whatever your choice may be and to the success of your endeavor in a weight loss goal.

Benefits of Vitamin B12 Food

The Benefits of B12

Vitamin B12 food is something that most persons rarely think about.  However, Vitamin B12, or cobalamin, is an essential vitamin cofactor in the body’s daily processes.  Vitamin B12 benefits include its role in red blood cell formation and maturation as well as its role in providing fatty sheaths to peripheral nerves.  This helps ensure proper neuronal functioning and prevents neurodegenerative damage.

What Happens When We Don’t Get Enough?

A recent study called the Framingham Offspring Study has concluded that many persons actually suffer from cobalamin deficiency without knowing it.  Young adults, in particular, may not be consuming enough Vitamin B12 food to meet their needs.  These persons may be asymptomatic, or they may suffer from multiple symptoms like depression, moodiness, extreme fatigue, nervousness, and memory loss.  Other symptoms of cobalamin deficiency may include unsteady gait, constipation, and weight loss.

How to Ensure Adequate B12 levels

In order to ensure that one gets all the Vitamin B12 benefits needed by the body, B12 food must first be incorporated in the diet.  Normally, B12 is easily acquired from animal sources like meat and dairy.  However, persons who have digestive problems or those who are strict vegetarians may find it difficult to consume enough B12 food to meet their daily needs.  In cases such as this, the Framingham Offspring Study recommends regular intake of a Vitamin B supplement.

When to Take a B12 Supplement

A complete Vitamin B supplement may help those who are in a chronic state of low Vitamin B12.  However, even persons who consume a proper diet may need a B12 supplement if their cobalamin needs are increased.  Such persons include those who are under chronic stress states as well as pregnant and childbearing women.  In these cases, proper nutritional intake of B12 food may still need to be supplemented in order to achieve the maximum amount of Vitamin B12 benefits needed by the body.
